Montecristo was founded in 1935 by Alonso Menéndez and José García. The name comes from The Count of Monte Cristo, a favourite novel read aloud to rollers by the factory lector.
The No.4 is one of the best-selling Cuban cigars of all time, while the No.2 is the benchmark torpedo. The Edmundo (2004) and the Open line (2009) brought the brand to a new generation.
