Arturo Fuente founded the company in West Tampa, Florida, in 1912; the family later moved production to the Dominican Republic.
The Opus X (1995) used wrapper grown at Chateau de la Fuente, disproving the belief that fine wrapper could not be grown in the Dominican Republic.
